What Is Sheet Metal Fabrication?
The metal fabrication process first begins with sheet stock, which is initially flat and then cut, shaped, and formed. A shear, laser, waterjet, plasma, or punch press can make the part’s edge features and inner holes.
Blanks made of sheet metal are then formed into 3D shapes with a brake press, either manually or automatically. Die tools can bend the part in many directions, from basic brackets to more intricate forms.
